Worries Removed

I guess you could say that I'm pretty relieved now. It's so amazing that the first month of 2010 is now coming to a close. (Btw, I love writing down "2010" for some reason.. it just writes so smoothly!)

Anyway, why have some of my stresses decreased? Well, I am no longer a part-time student! Hurrah for 16 units of educational bliss! I also have a job, though I haven't started working yet. Other than failing my first classics quiz (which I may take p/np... we'll see), my classes have been pretty good so far.

Hm, actually, maybe it isn't so great. Maybe I'm just sugarcoating stuff. Come to think of it, I did in fact intentionally skip my first lecture of the semester last Thursday. o_o I also returned most of my textbooks last Tuesday, only to realize that I decided not to drop MCB. That means I still need the two books. OMG. Time to order those suckers. D:

Oh dear. I shan't procrastinate! No longer!

On an unrelated note, Little Big Planet is cute.

Lonely

I'm back in the dorm now, and going to spend my first night at Berkeley alone. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if I weren't in such a bad mood. I'm so overwhelmed...

First of all, I'm not a full-time student. I guess this wouldn't be an extreme worry for most people, but my financial aid will not pay if I am only part-time. So far I have 11 units, so I need an extra 2. I'm waitlisted for chem 1A (#7) and public health 116 (#101), so if I get into either one them I'm good. But I don't know how likely that is, so I'd need to find another 2 unit class or petition for lower units...

Chem 1A is a major hurdle at the moment because it's one of the most basic requirements for MCB. I also have to take this class at Cal b/c it wouldn't look good on a med school application if I took such a "basic" course at a community college back home over the summer. I'm definitely showing up to lecture, but my lab is currently unopened. So what should I do? Where should I go? I hope this clears up by Wednesday (lecture). I also need to get textbooks...

Textbooks are such a hassle. I have none of my required textbooks, and Come Get Used is down. :[ I guess I could go to the student store, buy everything, order elsewhere for cheaper, and then return the store-bought items. Ughhh...

Unfortunately, I took out a lot of my frustrations on Shawn. I feel so bad that we ended the conversation on such a sour note. -sigh- I'm pretty volatile.

I have more worries (work study, sleep, loneliness), but I'll just end it here.

A Personality Quiz

This is the first quiz that I've taken in a while. Actually, I'm procrastinating on making my resume and cover letters for work study positions.. GRR.

Your view on yourself:

Other people find you very interesting, but you are really hiding your true self. Your friends love you because you are a good listener. They'll probably still love you if you learn to be yourself with them.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:

Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:

You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:

You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:

You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

Late Nights

Why do I keep sleeping so late? I was going to sleep early and wake early, especially after waking up at 2:30-ish this afternoon. D:

I'm utterly lazy. I'm a couch potato. How can I.. GRR. I need to get moving, get working...

I'll go sleep now.. Wow I'm speechless in the face of my lack of activity.

Psych in Practical Application

I read something somewhere that resonated with what I learned in my psych class last semester, so I'm going to attempt to apply it now. What was it exactly? When attempting to cure someone of an irrational fear, a behavioral therapist may choose to repeatedly expose the individual to the object of fear in an attempt to eradicate the stimulus-response pathway. (Am I saying this right? Winter break kind of erased a lot of the knowledge I crammed into my brain just before finals...)

So here's the application: I am a very jealous person, so I tend to avoid situations where I could possibly get jealous. Instead, maybe I should face those situations more often so that jealousy isn't an issue. Or is there something else beneath the surface? After all, correlation doesn't equal causation. Perhaps my jealousy + situations that incite jealousy are caused by a third agent... In which case, perhaps Freudian or cognitive therapy techniques would be better...

Food

I've been craving different foods for quite a while now. Even though I should be sleeping now, I've been looking up different foods since.. quite some time ago.

Denny's hot chocolate (with endless refills!) was delicious. I should make some of my own with my Ghirardelli mix with hazelnut.. o_o

HAZELNUTS. They're amazing. The star of Ferrero Rocher chocolates and Nutella. Yum.

Which reminds me, I want a crepe. With ice cream. Vanilla (bean)!

I should try "Birthday Cake Batter" ice cream; Shawn recommended it. Haha. Actually, I owe him some for some forgotten reason.

Udon is good too.. oh man.. I want some noodles NOW! D<

I want to go here someday.. yumm..

..and other places to check out. I CAN'T WAIT! :D
